Almsgiving: A Pillar of Lent Across Marianist Schools

Read about various initiatives undertaken by Marianist schools during Lent featured in the March 2025 issue of FamilyOnline.
Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati is running a "Change Race" fundraiser collecting “small change” for Operation Give Back (OGB), which supports educational equity and community outreach to students and families in need. Theology students at Chaminade College Preparatory in St. Louis created care packages for the homeless, inspired by Mother Teresa’s example and mission. Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton and Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood jointly collected 111 units of blood, potentially saving 333 lives. Colegio San José students in Puerto Rico participated in a beach cleanup and learned about coastal ecosystem protection. Finally, North Catholic High School students in Pittsburgh volunteered at Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that helped 4,000 unemployed and underemployed women last year. These acts of service and love emphasize the Marianist tradition of compassion and justice during this Lenten season.
