Bro. Jack Ventura, SM, Ministry Lead of MFEP and Director of Mission Integration with Ms. Lugina Billisi and Ms. Caytie Lagrange at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory, Hollywood, FL, sends us this update.
International Women's Week is celebrated around the world, highlighting International Women's Day (March 8, 2025). International Women's Day itself honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while advocating for gender equality. This year, the theme is "For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.", emphasizing the need for equal rights and opportunities for all.
The purpose of the Marianist Family Encounters Project is to animate the efforts of all Marianist persons, communities, and institutions in the United States in a manner that manifests our commitment to the Global Compact on Education and contributes to the action areas of the Laudato Si' Action Platform. The fourth goal of the Global Compact on Education is to promote the full participation of Girls and Young Women in Education. Our first Characteristic of Marianist Education is to Educate for Formation in Faith. Thanks to the leadership of Ms. Lugina Billisi and Ms. Caytie Lagrange, along with the leaders of our Women Engaged (WE) club, CMCP sponsored several events to highlight the equality of girls and women in our educational community.
On Thursday, March 6, in honor of International Women's Day, the CMPC community was invited to wear purple in recognition of the International Women's Day. We wear purple in solidarity as a reminder and a visual of the strength and importance of women's rights across the world.
