Guardian Angels Cheer Up Cancer Patients this Holiday Season!

James Bendele, Ministry Lead of Marianist Encounters at Central Catholic, San Antonio, TX, sends us this update.

Earlier this month, the Guardian Angels (the service club at Central Catholic) partnered with Button LIFE (our faith formation club) for another successful Thanksgiving Drive, Coat Drive, and Diaper Drive!

This week, on Wednesday, December 11, the Guardian Angels helped coordinate our second blood drive of the year. It was a huge success! 34 units of blood were collected. And, as you might guess, a lot of this blood will be going toward helping cancer patients. This was the best gift anyone could possibly give - the gift of life!

One day later, on Thursday, December 12, the Guardian Angels finished up our school’s annual toy drive. Approximately 600 toys were collected. The toys were donated to the Stay Strong Foundation. This non-profit organization will be giving every single one of those toys to children with pediatric cancers.

A very special “thank you” goes out to junior Joaquin Tanjuatco, Mr. Luke Hoenigman, Ms. Dorothy Hanson, and the rest of the Guardian Angels leadership team for making these events possible with all their hard work and determination. And a very special “thank you” also goes out to the entire Central Catholic community for their generous donations.
