Linda Clarke-Tucker, Ministry Lead of the Marianist Family Encounters Project at Mother Seton Academy, Baltimore, MD, sends us this update and upcoming initiatives for the school.
Mother Seton Academy has been quite busy since school started in late August. Our Green Teams resumed their biweekly community clean-ups in mid-September. We have once again entered the Baltimore City Department of Public Works Eco Warriors of the Future Competition.
We kicked off that initiative by joining Mayor Brandon Scott's Fall Clean Up 2024 in October.
In November, our students and parents signed the Family Pledge to Recycle, and Mother Seton participated in America Recycles Day by collecting over 500 plastic bottles for recycling. We were also a featured school by DPW for the America Recycles Day initiative.
There are more initiatives on the horizon in 2025, including a sneaker recycling drive, a visit to the Ashburton Water Filtration Plant to learn about our clean water resource, guest speakers on sustainability, a 7th-grade student capstone on Urban Heat Islands, and our annual environmental trip. So, stay tuned.
