James Bendele, Ministry Lead of Marianist Encounters at Central Catholic, San Antonio, TX, sends us these stories about Central Catholic's sports teams supporting the city's causes and the Supermoon event over San Antonio.
Beyond the Game
The Central Catholic Basketball, Baseball, and Tennis programs truly exemplified the spirit of giving back to the community last week.
The basketball program contributed their time and talent by helping create a three-course dinner at the UTSA Southwest Art Center Gala, supporting local artists, and raising funds for a great cause. Meanwhile, our Baseball program stepped up to assist at a baseball game for Kinetic Kids, providing a fun and inclusive environment for children with disabilities.
The Central Catholic tennis team dedicated their time to the San Antonio Food Bank, where they packed and sorted vegetables in the warehouse. Shoutout to Button Tennis for actively participating in the fight against hunger and helping to eliminate hunger in the Southwest.
It's incredible to see these young athletes not only excel on the court and field but also dedicate themselves to making a positive impact in the community.
Supermoon Over Central Catholic
Earlier this semester, the “supermoon” appeared over our beloved Central Catholic High School. This full moon, called a Hunter’s Moon or Supermoon, was the brightest of the year due to the moon’s proximity to the Earth at this time.
While the supermoon was in full effect, a comet named Tsuchinshan-ATLAS was also clearly visible. This comet won’t return for another 80,000 years!
Several students from all divisions (and even some faculty) took photographs of this historic event.
